What is Tapping?
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an alternative treatment for emotional distress. It has been known to be referred to as psychological acupressure.
EFT tapping focuses on tapping the 12 Meridian points of the body to relieve symptoms of negative experience or emotion.
When we get stressed, our body produces cortisol to help us but if we do not burn this cortisol off and our body stay in an extreme state of stress, we can begin to experience anxiety. We can feel overwhelmed with fear of our future. We can experience anger, rejection and even low self-esteem there are so many emotions we feel. We can begin to feel stuck unable to move past these emotions and don’t know how to redirect the emotional pain we are feeling.
Stress is something we all feel whether we are a child or an adult. Our levels of stress can depend on many things a few might be who we, if we are able to manage our emotions and our environment.
EFT works by deactivation of the amygdala ( stress centre in the brain) and hippocampus( memory centre) which is why it is also used for PTSD.
It lowers Cortisol levels – Dr Peta Stapleton known for her research and work for EFT tapping and brining to the world the science behind EFT. A study published in 2012 in the journal of nervous and Mental Disease, found that EFT Tapping lowered cortisol significantly more than traditional talk therapy or resting.
